Michelle Balogh is a freelance writer and illustrator. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Music from the University of New South Wales, and in 2014 she completed a Master of Arts in Creative Writing at UTS. Her work has been shortlisted for the Children’s Book Council of Australia Aspiring Writers’ Mentorship, and highly commended in the University of New South Wales literary journal. Following graduation, she pursued a brief career in beauty and lifestyle writing, before discovering that the stories she wanted to tell were closer to home. Her short work of memoir and imaginative biography, ‘Shan-Yi’, on which Her Kind of Luck is based, was shortlisted for the Scribe Nonfiction Prize in 2016. Her Kind of Luck will be published in 2019. She lives in Sydney.
